Store lead and style advisor for our flagship store, Bastiaan, walks us through a recent buying trip to Milan and the inspiration discovered there. The guys were in the city to hand select some special ready-to-wear pieces for our Atelier Munro House to sit alongside (and compliment) our made-to-measure range.

One Sunday morning in July, Ricardo and I traveled back to Italy, this time to Milan. With the inspiration of the Pitti Uomo still fresh in our minds, we wanted to explore what the city had to offer for some new ventures with old partners – an updated outerwear collection and a new curated knitwear collection.

Arriving in Milan, we first took a leisurely stroll through the city, feeling inspired by the environment and all that this fashion city has to offer. A true breath of fresh air in the high-end retail experience and product refinement space was the flagship store of Loro Piana. Always a must-visit when you’re in the city.

We reserved the whole Monday to put together the ready-to-wear collections in the middle of Milan – a grand building with high ceilings and an atrium. It was a fruitful session, with some major innovations in the outerwear for the next spring/summer season. A field jacket in a techno chambray, a gilet series featuring Loro Piana’s ice jersey fabric. Bombers will be a highlight too, with the expansion of our Pelle Iconic Suede Bomber collection and a new bomber crafted in a technical fabric.

For the knitwear, all the classics from last year will be back with, of course, refreshed colors. We reworked the collars for our garment-dyed piqué cotton polos in both long and short sleeves, still casual but with more structure. Finally, adding a fantastic knitted cardigan to withstand the cool spring evenings in style. The collection, and now our trip, was complete.

We couldn’t leave without dropping by Pineider, our favorite place to get a quality something for someone special on your return. With that one last stop, we were on our way back home.
