It’s been a long road to get to the AM House Calgary. What began as one man working out of his home turned into a small team of locals ready to serve the community.
Continue readingIf I look into my wardrobe, I realize my garments for spring/summer and fall/winter are becoming more akin to each other. Still I find there is still a big difference between the two. Not so much in the fabrics, weight, the quality, but in ways of wearing. During these last hot summer days, all I wanted was something breathable and airy. When days are getting colder, I still reach for those garments, but now my intention turns to layering.
Continue readingIt’s rare to come across a beer with a point of view as refreshing as the drink itself. Enter: Calgary’s Eighty-Eight Brewing. The community-focused craft brewery is the...
Continue readingThe Dutch have been and continue to be masterful architects. Fortunately for us, we have had the chance to spend time with Paul Rem who was more than happy to educate us on more majestic buildings that deserve our attention and admiration.
Continue readingIf you’ve never had the pleasure of witnessing the Calgary Stampede, imagine an entire city flooded with cowboys. Music, chuck races, more hay bales than you can count and, of course, rodeo. For ten days, Calgary is transformed into a celebration of all things Albertans hold dear. This year, the festival coincided with the soft opening of our Calgary Atelier Munro House.
Continue readingDuring Amsterdam's Sculpture Biennial ARTZUID our collaboration with Jasper Krabbé continues. The artist and first-time curator will show a scale model of the monumental sculpture he made for the event in the AM House on Beethovenstraat. He takes us through the creative process behind the sculpture and his vision for the exhibition.
Continue readingThis summer brings new stories to share and, of course, a new, special summer wine to taste, thanks to another delicious collaboration with sommelier Simo Zbiri. Curated by Simo, the limited-run vin is created by Denis Tissot, chief winemaker of Châteaux Ministre, a small independent winery specializing in au natural production.
Continue readingIn this seventh issue of the AM Times we are exploring what we’re calling ‘the fabric of Atelier Munro’. Creating a new kind of fabric which is not something you see, but something you feel when wearing Atelier Munro. When you get dressed in the early morning. When you perform for crowds with confidence. When you enjoy quiet moments alone reading a book, listening to a podcast, sipping a cool glass of red wine in the summer shade. It’s in everything we create for you as you create every garment yourself, weaving in those moments, discovering what personal style and empowerment really is, and experiencing that touch of a human being in the seams of a garment made specially for you.
Continue readingWe recently got the chance to collaborate with two of the talented men behind Toronto’s Symphony Orchestra, creating a collection of quiet luxury inspired by their lives and work. One half of the duo is Mark Williams. He comes to the centuries old institution with a modern mission: to bring classical music to the masses.
Continue readingSpring has officially started in the Northern Hemisphere and we can feel it everywhere. Every day more people find their way to made-to-measure clothing. The requests for lighter and more versatile pieces are gaining momentum and we are super proud to share so many new things this season.
Continue readingAs it gets colder outside and we’re busy finding ways to stay cozy, externally with beautiful layers, internally with warming cocktails, it is the perfect moment to look back at what we’ve done and where we’ve been. Reflecting on those special moments of the past 12 months. Reconnecting to the people we’ve met, the ideas we’ve made, the thousands and thousands of clients we served, dressed, and styled.
Continue readingIt is the season of hosting and holiday parties. If you’re looking for something delicious to serve, we have a suite of signature cocktails that will go down a treat.
Continue readingAs we near the years’ end, enjoying the last rays of sun reflecting off the high-rises of Toronto and the canals of Amsterdam, taking short hikes in the countryside, spending afternoons on park benches trying to grasp the autumn colors, we are sliding slowly but surely into a more festive mood. Celebrating another year of hard work and milestones met, many we couldn’t have done without the people around us.
Continue readingWe've been on the hunt for a local partner that could bring something fresh to our Toronto store opening. It didn’t take long before we stumbled upon Southbrook Organic Vineyards – a small family-run winemaker focused on earth-friendly farming.
Continue readingAs we put the last hand on our new Toronto flagship store, seeing everything come together in one beautiful space, the result of a neatly planned operation that started over 10 months ago – I’ve been thinking about what it means to ‘return to work’.
Continue readingStore lead and style advisor for our flagship store, Bastiaan, walks us through a recent buying trip to Milan and the inspiration discovered there.
Continue readingThis summer sees one of our more delicious collaborations: two new wines curated by sommelier Simo Zbiri and made by independent winery Domaine de la Tucayne.
Continue readingWith its fresh, virgin mornings with a newspaper and espresso on an empty terrace, the endless strolls through unknown and humid cities, the late night parties on hillsides overseeing the sleeping bay, the wonderful encounters with art, culture, old friends and new ones; summer is here.
Continue readingThe first issue of The AM Times. Not so much a milestone, but rather a stepping stone. A stepping stone to explore our love for character. Born out of a need to tell more stories, share deep dives, and explore the boundaries of what we’re doing at Atelier Munro. Capturing the people we work with, the products we make, the places we visit, and the planet we love.
