Atelier Munro continues as AFC Ajax’s Official Formal Wear Supplier with new Made-to-Measure menswear for 2026/27, built on what each generation inherits and what it changes.
No tradition is received intact. It is handed over, put to use and changed by whoever receives it before being handed on again. Ajax has done this in public for more than a century. Every generation has kept the idea and rewritten the execution, which is why each Ajax side looks like Ajax and no two look alike. It is a way of working we recognize in our own craft, and the thinking behind this season’s formal wear.
Now in our third season as Ajax’s Official Formal Wear Supplier, we’ve created a new look for the men’s first team, developed in collaboration with a selection of the players and worn for arrivals on selected matchdays throughout 2026/27. Where previous seasons drew on classical tailoring, this season takes familiar menswear and reshapes it around the way the players live. Menswear has lasted by evolving, with each generation finding new ways to wear it. The club takes a similar approach to its own traditions.
Tradition is a starting point. Where you take it is personal. Explore the pieces, then choose your fabric, design and fit with a Style Advisor.
A new cut of tradition. The Nehru jacket brings a history of its own, recrafted here for the way the players live. Closed at the throat and cut without lapels, it keeps the line clean from shoulder to hem.
The shirt beneath it carries a tulip collar, opening outwards rather than pointing down. The trousers borrow their construction from sportswear while holding a formal line, bringing ease to the tailored look.
The vest returns from last season, bringing continuity to a new combination.
The pieces can be worn together or apart, so a player can arrive as part of the group while still dressing as himself.
What ease is made of
Comfort here is a construction decision. The garments are cut in Jersely® fabric made in Italy by Loro Piana, woven on a shuttle loom. This slower method produces cloth with unusual flexibility and the resilience to return to its shape. It has the give of jersey with enough body to hold a pressed line, letting the jacket move with a footballer’s shoulders without ever reading as leisurewear. It is also the same cloth the team wore last season, now in a different color and cut into new shapes. Another expression of what we carry forward.
That color is mocha, a warm brown with grey undertones and a matte finish. It holds its character under stadium lights as well as in daylight. Worn head to toe, it brings the look together; worn separately, it gives each piece a place in a wider wardrobe.
Jersely® asks more of the tailor. Its flexibility calls for careful handling, with each seam controlled to preserve the cloth’s natural ease. The jacket’s shape is built through precise cutting and construction rather than pressed into shape afterwards.
The Nehru collar calls for the maker’s eye for proportion and careful shaping. Sitting close to the neck, with no lapels, it brings the fit into focus. The smallest adjustments refine both its line and its feel, allowing the collar to sit cleanly and comfortably when fastened.
Much of this knowledge is passed on through practice. A Style Advisor learns to read a body the way a defender learns to read a striker: by standing next to someone with years of experience, picking up the habits before fully understanding them. It ends with a hand on a shoulder and a decision about half a centimeter.
Every garment is Made-to-Measure, cut to one player’s form and nobody else’s. A shared look, shaped around each individual.
What a club hands down belongs to everyone who has ever worn the shirt. What a tailor makes belongs to one man standing still while somebody measures him. The team’s formal wear brings those two ideas together.
