The promise of warm weather has us considering the must-packs for summer vacation. The utility jacket and its many practical pockets comes to mind. As does our new casual and California-inspired shirt. Another contender is the summer travel suit curated by Juni. The style advisor from The AM House in Toronto put together one of our favorite looks this season: a denim blue lightweight suit, stripe shirt, and a pair of low-top sneakers. We sat down with him to find out what makes this modern ensemble work so well.
Juni, we love this new take on a travel suit. Tell us about the inspiration and creation?
I’m on my feet all day, so I love when I can wear something that stays smart and fresh. A lightweight construction is the best start point for this. I went with the 3 button closure on the jacket for a relaxed fit and a more casual feel. Then the fabric. The summer denim is the ideal match for our lightweight suit, I think. The wool blend by Reda is breathable and comfortable at the same time. Plus a bit of stretch means less wrinkles while you’re on the go.
Beautiful. The rest of the look seems equally summer-friendly. Take us through your thinking.
I went for effortless but sophisticated. I’ve paired it with the perfect awning stripe shirt and cream sneaker. The shirt is designed as a one-piece collar, for something a bit more casual. It’s made from a breathable blend of cotton with linen, which I find nice and airy in warm weather. Then a pair of off-white low-top sneakers. These are Italian calfskin and so comfortable. They’re definitely my summer staple.
It really nails that relaxed summer look. But could you wear it in less casual settings?
Absolutely. The suit is quite a versatile color. If you wanted to wear it to a formal or business occasion, you could also choose to elevate the look even more with a classic shirt and textured knit tie.
His look also inspired racing driver Nyck de Vries in creating his travel collection. You can check out Nyck’s version with a safari jacket twist here.
This fabric has sold out, but there are more travel-ready looks to explore from our other style advisors.
