Read moreAs the days grow longer and more adventures beckon, we look to balance our style with function. One piece mastering this harmony is the utility jacket. The newest in our range of lightweight jackets features a relaxed fit with a shirt-style collar and large distinctive patch pockets – ideal to carry all your essentials during your travels. The jacket with humble roots is fast becoming our favorite for a walk in the forest or by the sea.
It’s practicality is no accident. Our design is largely inspired by the utility jackets of 19th century France – a daily workwear piece for railroad workers, laborers, and farmers. The jackets were originally constructed to store tools and made from durable cottons in darker colors to mask dirt and stains. These days, the clean silhouette translates well into a minimalist, timeless look. Still sturdy yet soft and comfortable, it’s secured its place as a style staple. A truly transeasonal piece, perfect for layering or as a stand alone summer jacket.
While we do love the classic moleskins and cotton drill for winter, when it comes to summer we recommend playing with other fabrics – you have no shortage of options with all our suit and jacket fabrics to choose from. If you prefer that robust look, but still want your utility jacket to be breathable, go for a cotton twill. For a lighter look, a seasonal linen or linen blend will keep you cool and comfortable. Traveling to damper climates over the summer? Pick a lightweight and water-repellent technical fabric for even more utility. Play with colors for a fun statement piece or opt for any neutral to create a true workhorse.

Luxurious, lustrous velvet. Say the word and the essence of the fabric will reveal something of its nature to you instantly. Vel-vet. Soft and alluring like a whisper. It simply has that mood of having all the trimmings. No wonder we see more and more people eager to wear it, especially as the festive season draws near.
