Mario Bisio, a man of innovation and influence

Mario Bisio is one of those people who we can confidently say we don’t know where we would be without them. There from the very beginnings of Atelier Munro, his influence has echoed through our halls. Back in 2017, it was Mario who first saw the potential in creating our brand, sketching a way forward, and even becoming one of the first major retailers to stock it.

We first met Mario as a partner, retailer, and the owner of Mario’s. Originally one store opened in the 60s by his father in Portland, it has evolved and expanded under Bisio’s watchful eye. Nowadays, the Mario’s store is part of the Mitchell Stores family, with 8 locations across the US.

We’re certainly not the only ones to benefit from Mario’s great taste and foresight. He’s spent the last 50 years pushing innovation in retail and being the first to bring brands like Canali, Zegna and Diesel Jeans to the United States – and in 2014, Mario’s was recognized by MR Magazine as one of the 10 Most Influential Stores in North America. The man is a true pioneer of the retail world and one we were keen to share with you. On a sunny day in Amsterdam, we took to the canals to speak about our shared past, present, and future.
