Ways to style our newest knitwear

If you’re anything like me, as soon as the cold sets in, so does the overwhelming urge to cocoon yourself with new and delightful layers of wool. This season, we’re introducing a slew of new arrivals spanning the spectrum of formality. A classic cable knit, a more modern full-button bomber, and the very casual (and very hard to take off) leisure pants. So we thought, who better to ask how to wear these new arrivals than a style advisor from chilly Toronto. Gaurav takes us through his favorite design options and his style advice for each.

The cable knit

Perhaps the most iconic of all the knit types, the cable knit has come a long way from its origins on Ireland’s Aran Islands. From being the first choice of local fishermen to protect against harsh weather to now a symbol of class and casual sophistication. Made using a slightly more complex and time-consuming process than our other knit structures, the distinctly raised plaiting adds dimension that draws the eye and can become the entire focal point in your look. Beyond its aesthetic charm, the cable’s thickness and interwoven design creates excellent insulation for the winter months.

This new range combines classic style with a modern fit and is available in all our usual models like crew and mock necks, cardigan and zipper styles – except the hoodie. For fall, we recommend our blend of wool-cashmere, or if you’d like to wear it into winter too, the pure cashmere is always going to be a winner.

"I think the cable knit is something that's very sartorial. I would say, in today's world when not a lot of people wear suits or sport jackets it’s an anchor piece in itself, right? It’s a piece that has a lot of substance and weight to it. It’s quiet luxury, extremely sophisticated and elegant. It indicates a certain lifestyle. I quite like the full zipper in heathered gray. I’ve been wearing it a lot instead of a jacket."

For the office

For a slightly more formal setting, when the occasion doesn’t demand a sports jacket or a suit, Gaurav recommends dressing the zipper cable knit with a flannel shirt, dark brown dress pants, and some suede penny loafers. Like a little bit more of a color blocking look, but still very elegant and minimalistic.

For after-hours

You can also wear this piece when it comes to more casual settings. If you have plans to go out after work or want to wear this on your off days, you can just slip on a nice pair of black denim and a cashmere-silk crew neck and it’s good to go. For fall or winter, the pebbled black parajumper boots are your best friend.

Full-button bomber

This new addition was created to fill a void in our range for a sportier winter knit. A twist on the traditional bomber jacket, it combines the comfort and texture of knitwear with the iconic design of a bomber. Namely those ribbed details on the hems and cuff that help to create a snug fit and contrast to the smoother body of the design. Like all our other knits, the full-button bomber is 3D knitted but despite the chunkier elements that are knitted separately. You’ll also notice large buttons dotting the front, for a more cardigan-esque aesthetic. A cozy layer for colder days, it offers a practical and fresh take on a hero piece. To achieve that chunky look, we only offer this style in double-ply. For your warmest, most luxe option, go for pure cashmere, wool-cashmere or pure cashmere.

“This is another great alternative to a sports jacket, when you still want to look presentable. Because of the chunkiness of the ribbed detailing and because of the substance, it can be a standalone piece. The bomber brings that extra layer and even though it has that chunky look it still has a very elegant drape to it. It's like a more substantial version of the cardigan.”

For the boardroom

In this shade of blue, Gaurav says the bomber has a similar philosophy to the cable knit – you could wear this in a formal setting or in an office setting as the anchor piece. Skip the sports jacket and use it to update your “shirt and tie” look, with a crisp white shirt, a blue flannel trouser and a nice grenadine tie.

For the weekend

When it comes to the weekend, pair your full-button bomber with more casual and comfortable elements to dress it down. A light blue flannel shirt underneath, nice navy blue stretch jeans and city loafers.

Leisure pants

Yeah, they’re exactly what they sound like. Our first foray into knitwear for your lower half, a pair of leisure pants bring ease and coziness to your casual pant drawer. The design includes a very comfortable fit, enveloping ankles, and roomy pockets. They’re super comfortable and basically created for lounging at home, running errands, or engaging in light exercise like walking or cycling. 3D-knitting in single ply allows for better airflow and breathability to make that possible.

The best part? You can create a matching top in the same quality and you’ve got a cozy and relaxed option for everyday with style appeal. For maximum breathability, all leisure pants are made in single-ply. Pick from wool-cashmere or pure cashmere for something slightly warmer and even more luxurious.

“I love them. It's an unstructured, structured trouser. Comfort is the king these days, right? We've witnessed it in stretchy denim over the years, we've seen it in the pleats that are coming back because again, it's more comfortable. I think these pants take comfort to a different level without being too casual, because it's got that element of cashmere. It’s a great loungewear piece”

For the airport

For somebody who travels a lot, Gaurav definitely recommends getting a pair. Wear it with a made-to-measure knit in the same fabric and it becomes a loungewear set that is comfortable yet elevated enough for flights. Add a nice pair of sneakers and you’re ready to go.

For lazy Sundays

For your most casual of weekend activities, like a quick dash to the cafe or running errands, these pants are perfect. With a cable knit in the same fabric, a long overcoat, and a pair of suede sneakers, you’ll maximize comfort while still looking put together.
