Five tips for creating your ultimate car coat

Five tips for creating your ultimate car coat

As your final layer on display to the world, your coat can really define your cold-weather look. Sharp and versatile, the car coat is an essential for fall. Whether you’re creating yours for commutes into the office or weekend adventures, here’s some tips for creating one you’ll love for years to come.

Material matters
Something breathable and moisture-wicking will always be the most comfortable. Though the most important thing is to find a fabric that suits your personal style and needs. Brushed camel, wool, or cashmere blends work well for something warm and classic – if you’re more outspoken, maybe in a glen plaid or houndstooth. If your top priority is water and wind resistance, opt for our weatherproof wools or a technical fabric. They usually offer a more modern vibe. More eco-friendly? Opt for recycled wool (not redyed, reducing its environmental impact even further), blended with a touch of polyamide for added strength and durability.

Consider your collar
Something new this season are options for your collar. There’s two styles to choose from – the slim collar creates a more sportive look. The classic standard collar comes with more space for your scarf, perfect for keeping you extra toasty.

Choose your closure
We have different options for the closure of your car coat. There are two styles to choose from – the 5-button closure gives the coat a classic look and for a more minimalistic style the 5-buttons closure with hidden buttons.

Keep your options open
A detachable liner is available with any car coat and we consider it a no-brainer. It makes it easy to add or take away an extra layer of warmth, making your coat wearable in any season. Better yet, they are filled with 100% recycled ‘down’ made from recycled plastic bottles.

Look at length
A car coat traditionally ends in line with your fingertips, but you can add length to your hem for extra coverage and protection from the cold. A longer-line look not only gives you warmth, it’s also a sophisticated look.
