Introducing Arno Kantelberg & our perfectly imperfect collaboration

You may have caught a glimpse of this suave gentleman in our last issue. Affectionately referred to as the Style Pastor, Arno is known for his eloquent takes on style and lifestyle in Dutch magazine columns. The former-editor-in-chief of Esquire recently turned his attention to heading up his own creation and online publication ModMod. Now, the authority on style can add brand ambassador to his long list of credentials.

Our new collaboration with the Dutchman explores the concept of perfect imperfection, inspired by the tulip Semper Augustus. At one time the most desired flower in the world, the ‘broken tulip’ exemplifies finding beauty in the unexpected and rethinking how we define flaws. You can read all about the flower’s past and what it can teach us about style today in an essay by Arno. It’s a thought-provoking commentary on embracing our individuality and unique preferences that speaks to our philosophy: manifesting character. Arno brings this idea to life in a look he curated for fall with pieces awash with handmade (and perfectly imperfect) details. All shoppable in the private store.

To complete the story, we also created some limited-edition items in homage to the tulip. First, a lightweight silk foulard with a distinctive design drawing from several 17th century artworks of the Semper Augustus in Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum. As well as a special version of the Semper Augustus fragrance by Amsterdam-based perfumery Mona Di Orio – a masterful recreation of the lost tulip that will only be available only in our Atelier Munro House Amsterdam.

We celebrated the launch at the AM House in Amsterdam with Arno reading the essay amongst a sea of tulips and a chance to meet the men behind Mona Di Orio and learn more about the fragrance. Check out the pics below.
